Plant Description
The requirement for this crushing and screening plant was to crush limestone with a feed size of up to 15 m edge length or 1 m³ volume, generating a product 100 % minus 25 mm at a rate of 1,100 tons/hr In order to meet these demanding targets, a doublerotor Compound Crusher was chosen to effect twostage crushing within a single housing, together with a downstream screening plant
The raw material is brought by dump truck to a 450ton capacity hopper, from where it is extracted by a heavyduty apron conveyor with a hydraulic drive To ensure that heavy material lumps do not drop directly onto the apron conveyor, the feed hopper is fitted with an ultrasonic level control which prevents total emptying of the hopper and ensures that there is always a cushioning material layer on the apron conveyor A scraper chain conveyor underneath the apron conveyor handles any spillage material
In order to relieve the crusher and to intercept abrasive fines, mounted upstream of the crusher is a large eccentric screen, by means of which the minus 80 mm fines are separated and returned to the material flow downstream of the crusher In this way, some 20 – 30 % of the material feed bypasses the crusher
The heart of the plant is the Compound Crusher Type APCM 2022 with grinding path The primary rotor is a GSKtype rotor, a rugged, welded cast steel design The 2nd rotor for the secondary crushing operation is a lighter Ktype rotor
The prescreened material together with the crushed material from the crusher is transported by belt conveyor to the screening section comprising 2 parallel lines This material is first of all stored in an intermediate hopper from which it can then be extracted by vibrating chutes and transferred to the two screens Any screen overflow (> 25 mm) is returned by belt conveyor to the crusher for recrushing The material passing through the screens (< 25 mm) is the desired product, which is transported by belt conveyor to the downstream mixing bed This layout reliably limits the maximum granulation of the material to benefit the downstream ball mill and thus minimising the energy expended during the grinding process
